Solid Wood Flooring Installation in Swindon

What You'll Pay and How We Quote

Solid wood floors are quoted individually once we have seen the room. The price depends on the size of the room, the boards you choose, the fixing method and the subfloor. Timber floorboards in good order and a dry, level concrete slab are quick to prepare; anything uneven or damp takes more work, and we would rather tell you that up front.

We come out to you, measure up, look at what is underneath and give you a free quote before anything is ordered or started. There is no call-out fee for the visit.

What the Work Covers

Solid wood is one piece of timber from top to bottom, so it can be sanded and refinished many times over its life. Because it is a natural material it moves with the seasons, which is why the fitting matters: the boards need time to settle, the right fixing and the right expansion gap. Over timber joists and floorboards, solid wood is usually nailed or screwed. Over concrete, it is normally glued down onto a dry, prepared subfloor.

  • Checking moisture in the subfloor and the boards
  • Letting the boards settle in the room before fitting
  • Secret nailing or gluing to suit the subfloor
  • Neat cuts around doorways, hearths and pipes
  • Expansion gaps covered with beading or skirting
  • Sanding and finishing for unfinished boards
